Love in the Eyes of a Child

What is LOVE?

A group of professional people posed this question to a group of 4 to 8 year-olds, "What does love mean?"

The answers they got were broader and deeper than anyone could have imagined. See what you think:

---o0o---

"When my grandmother got arthritis, she couldn't bend over and paint her toenails anymore.So my grandfather does it for her all the time, even when his hands got arthritis too. That's love."

Rebecca- age 8

"When someone loves you, the way they say your name is different. You just know that your name is safe in their mouth."

Billy - age 4

{how sweeettt....}

"Love is when a girl puts on perfume and a boy puts on shaving cologne and they go out and smell each other."

Karl - age 5

"Love is when you go out to eat and give somebody most of your french fries without making them give you any of theirs."

Chrissy - age 6 {hehehe, cute...}

"Love is what makes you smile when you're tired."

Terri - age 4

"Love is when my mommy makes coffee for my daddy and she takes a sip before giving it to him, to make sure the taste is OK."

Danny - age 7

"Love is when you kiss all the time. Then when you get tired of kissing, you still want to be together and you talk more. My Mommy and Daddy are like that. They look gross when they kiss."

Emily - age 8

"Love is what's in the room with you at Christmas if you stop opening presents and listen."

Bobby - age 7 {i can't believe it's a 7-yr-old talking!}

"If you want to learn to love better, you should start with a friend who you hate,"

Nikka - age 6 {amen!}

"Love is when you tell a guy you like his shirt, then he wears it everyday."

Noelle - age 7

"Love is like a little old woman and a little old man who are still friends even after they know each other so well."

Tommy - age 6

"Love is when Mommy gives Daddy the best piece of chicken."

Elaine-age 7

"Love is when your puppy licks your face even after you left him alone all day."

Mary Ann - age 4

"I know my older sister loves me because she gives me all her old clothes and has to go out and buy new ones."

Lauren - age 4

"When you love somebody, your eyelashes go up and down and little stars come out of you."

Karen - age 7 {what? hehe!}

"You really shouldn't say 'I love you' unless you mean it. But if you mean it, you should say it a lot. People forget."

Jessica - age 8

_____

And the final one -- Author and lecturer Leo Buscaglia once talked about a contest he was asked to judge. The purpose of the contest was to find the most caring child. The winner was a four year old child whose next door neighbor was an elderly gentleman who had recently lost his wife.

Upon seeing the man cry, the little boy went into the old gentleman's yard, climbed onto his lap, and just sat there. When his Mother asked what he had said to the neighbor, the little boy said,

"Nothing, I just helped him cry".

I've been planning to create my own skin/layout for this blog, and well, I just haven't been quite inspired to do so. My creative cells are still hybernating.

Anyway, I'm still deciding on the color themes, the design itself, the links of course, 'coz I don't wanna lose some of my old posts because every once in a while I try to post something else that I try to connect to the old ones.

Hmmm, I'm actually having a migraine attack right now and I still choose to post something because when I try to construct sentence while having migraine, I find it easier and a little bit faster. Also, the click-click sounds of my typing makes me relax a bit. Darn migraines. Gives me a headache... Hehehe...

Aside from that, I'm still craving for coffee. Although I've minimized my cravings for cheesecake (Cristine now has the cheesecake craving by the way, hehe, sorry girl), I'm now into more coffee. And it's kinda driving me nuts because I don't get contented with instant coffee and buying brewed ones'll make be damn poor! Hohum.. Crazy me.

Someone who doesn't exist (part 2)

someone who'll tell the truth even if it will make me furious, or even if it hurts, because he'd know that to lie or not to tell would bring even greater consequences

someone who'll be as wacky as i can be

someone who'll just kiss me on my forehead and say, "how was your day?"

someone who'd need my presence as much as i'd need his

someone who can stand on his own feet, make his own decisions, and be strong enough to stand by it

someone who's not insecure, because i myself need to assure myself

someone who doesn't just talk crap, he does his crap too - meaning he's not all words or stories, but he does what he says

someone who's level headed, because i can be stupid sometimes

someone who not double-minded but has a stable brain wavelength

someone who doesn't want everything in double doses (not two girlfriends, not two wives, not two of everything)

someone who sticks to the plan

someone who'd respect me as much as he wants to be respected

someone who'll be able to take care of me

someone who'd be able to control me at times when i get cranky

someone who'll see the real me, and not through the screen that other people have made him look into

someone who can be stupid sometimes, just to enjoy the day with me

someone sensitive, someone caring

someone who'll just hug me and say nothing, just breathing lightly into my ear

someone sweet, but not too sweet; someone romantic, pero di naman yung nambobola lang

someone who'll embrace me as i am, with perfume or not

someone who seems ideal, but he's not

someone who doesn't exist

papa bear's sick

and oh, would ya kindly pray (if you folks even know how... hehehe, just kidding.... razz)
for a dear friend, he's in the hospital right now, getting tested for dengue.

Some Med School in the Philippines!

Ok folks, this issue has started to bombard the world wide web, especially the browsers of both the curious, and the concerned, people of the Philippines, myself included.

I do watch Desperate Housewives, and for some reason or another, I'm actually watching reruns of the previous season in a local tv station. {I won't mention which station anymore, ok?} And it's only through the news that I learned about the famed "racist" comment from the character of Teri Hatcher, Susan, in Desperate Housewives.

“ok, before we go any further, can I check those diplomas ‘coz I would just like to make sure that they’re not from some med school in the Philippines.”

{take note where the stress of her statement lies...}

Here's the clip:

Hmmm, actually, the truth of it as I personally see it is this: the comment was not directed at Filipino Doctors per Se, but to all those med-related professionals practising their craft in the United States. If you try to review the clip from the famed episode, you can hear from her voice that the 'thing' that the comment was undermining was the quality of education that medical schools here in the Philippines provide their clients, whether local bred or aliens.

Are you getting my point here? What I'm saying is, it's correct that we act on it, but lets ALL get our facts straight before reacting. Foreigner teachers, (Americans, Persians, Hindi, Spanish, French, German, extra terrestials, etc, etc, etc...) can teach in Med Schools in the Philippines, you know.

And you Mr {or Ms - he's gay!} Marc Cherry, {don't you think I forgot all about you} can sure damn write some fancy lines! You attracted one whole nation's viewing audience! Not to mention it's government, its people here and abroad, and was even able to cause the launch of an online signature-driven protest against yourself, the show you're writing for, the producers of that show, and the station that airs it. Hmmm. If you like you can also sign the petition here.
