No Profanities

I removed my chatbox (CBox) that used to be on my sidebar because some frustrated person decided to take his liberty and place some unnecessary comments and profanities on the chatbox.

Aside from being disappointed at how BARBARIC this person can act and sound, I was pissed because I do think and believe that in public blogs like this one, monitoring and controlling of untoward comments and events is almost next to impossible, but you should at least be decent enough to inform the owner that you are about to leave YOUR DIRT behind. I repeat, I was pissed off because no one, and I mean NO ONE can talk profanities in my blog through comments or what-nots unless permission to do so has already been granted to you. And as for you, crazy barbaric person, you are not allowed to leave your dirt here - whether you're a professional already or not. If you are, then shame on you. You could have been carrying a spotless reputation.

Now you sound and seem like you don't.

On E.S.'s Comment... :)

I too, basically do not have anything against retakes per se, but the thing is, the promulgation of the retake should be based on a solid precedent and should have undergone the due process required for making huge decisions that may affect one profession as a whole, not only for this exam, but for the rest of the lifespan of the Civil Engineering profession.

Conducting a retake may, or may not, prove that the fault was either on the examiners - for giving a not so difficult exam - or on PRC, for making such hasty decisions based on phrases that they themselves cannot explain well in public ("statistically improbable"). And I understand your confidence that you can go with the retake and have nothing to worry about. I believe most, if not all, of your colleagues in this batch of examinees have the same confidence, it's just that the effort and the time they spent for preparing for that exam is now relatively in vain, and the government agency that's supposed to be supporting all the professions in our country has proven to be a decision-making body that bases its steps and actions on shallow and downright disputable evidences and information. They (the PRC) have proven themselves also of NOT following the rules and regulations, especially those termed as implementing rules, on board examinations that they themselves have authored (probably) and have claimed to be strictly implementing. This not only affects the outlook of other professionals not part of CE, but also of other countries who USED to look up to Filipino engineers for their brilliance and expertise. This incident also affects the general outlook, opinion, and confidence of the public on government agencies (and the government in general) and the ability of its officials and employees to act and decide based on what's right in accordance to existing rules, norms, laws and morals, and is now reeking a stench that it is currently STATISTICALLY PROBABLE that ALL government agencies are capable and willing to enrich themselves or to create a facade of being FOR THE PEOPLE and yet, uplifting themselves in the process - with their personal motives rallying close behind.

CE AGRESSION seeks support from Congress!

Civil Engineering Against Retake Students’ Union

For Immediate Release

Manila Philippines

12 December 2007

CE AGRESSION seeks support from Congress

Solons unanimously stand against retake

Committee on Civil Service and Professional Regulation chaired by Cong. Raul Gonzalez, Jr. of Iloilo started its investigation to the Professional Regulation Commission (PRC) regarding the ordered partial retake of the examination of Civil Engineering, held at RVM Building, House of Representatives this Wednesday.

After Committee has evaluated the grounds of retake as presented by the PRC, and heard the sentiments of the examinees, it unanimously stood against the retake decision and supported the petition of CE AGRESSION. The Committee is asking PRC to nullify their retake order before several groups start filing TRO (temporary restraining order) and assault the Commission. Leonor Tripon-Rosero, PRC Chairperson; Dr. Angel Lazaro III, Board of Civil Engineering Chairman; and Mr. Nilo Rosas, PRC Commissioner attended the said hearing.

“PRC sounds like unprofessional… Sins of just two examinees must not affect the fate of the entire examinees,” said Cong. Amado Bagatsing, former Chairman of the said committee. “Statistically improbability” was discussed and turned to be unacceptable to lawmakers since only one statistician, who is Dr. Milagros Ibe, concluded the result.

Cong. Maria Milagros Magsaysay of Zambales emphatically stressed that the said “irregularities” was not yet thoroughly investigated and yet, PRC has already decided to order retake. The Committee is asking PRC to set aside the retake order and proceed to the investigation and should felt sorry to the examinees since the damage has been done to the CE profession.

This unexpected turn of events was initiated by the gallant acts and laudable response of Cong. Teodoro Casiño of BAYAN MUNA and Cong. Victor Yu of Zamboanga del Sur.

CE AGRESSION aimed to seek support from Congress by sending all the documents and materials to Cong. Casiño. The Union went to House of Representative session yesterday to witness the Privilege Speech prepared by Cong. Casiño. Unfortunately, the inquiry was not delivered after the Congress prioritized to discuss the amendments of the medicine price-reduction bill. On a positive note, Cong Yu, a civil engineer, approached the Union after the Congress recognized the presence of CE AGRESSION. He stated that he has already brought out the topic to the Committee on Civil Service and Professional Regulation and invited the Union to attend the hearing happened earlier. Cong. Yu also talked to Cong. Thelma Almario of Davao Oriental, Vice-Chairperson of the Committee to include the petition of civil engineering in the hearing.

Meanwhile, PRC asked for some time for them to discuss the issue. But CE AGRESSION will continue to pressure PRC as they also seek support from the Senate and Malacanang.

According to PRC, in the subject Hydraulics and Geotechnical Engineering, the results were “statistically improbable” due to the unusually high grades obtained by the examinees in the said exam. In the subject Structural Engineering and Construction, two (2) examinees were caught in possession of mobile phones, one of which contains answers to thirty (30) questions wherein twenty one (21) were found to be correct.

Privilege Speech of Rep. Teddy Casiño

Privilege Speech
Rep. Teddy Casiño (Bayan Muna Party-list)
Fourteenth Congress, House of Representatives (First Regular Session)
December 11, 2007

Mr. Speaker:

I stand on a question of personal and collective privilege on the plight more than 4,000 civil engineering graduates who have been rendered an extreme injustice by the Professional Regulatory Commission.

Mr. Speaker, on November 17 and 18, 2007, four thousand seven hundred eighty two (4,782) graduates of Bachelor of Science in Civil Engineering took the Civil Engineering Licensure Examination administered by the Professional Regulation Commission (PRC), in eight testing centers in the cities of Manila, Baguio, Cagayan de Oro, Cebu, Davao, Iloilo, Legaspi and Tacloban.

The examination came and went quietly without any hitch until a mysterious, questionable and highly illogical decision by the PRC, upon recommendation of the Board of Civil Engineering, came out on November 23, 2007.

Unknown to all the examinees, the PRC promulgated Resolution No. 07-12 recommending the nullification of the examination results in two subjects: Hydraulics and Geotechnical Engineering, and Structural Engineering and Construction. They also required ALL the examinees to retake the same subjects on January 12, 2007.

Mr. Speaker, dear colleagues, this is a controversy where the PRC, again, is at the center and the head of the problem.

Information my office has gathered reveal that the PRC approved the said recommendation of the Board of Civil Engineering without conducting a thorough and transparent investigation to afford due process to the examinees. The examinees, in fact, only learned of the said decision to have a retake only through the mass media when the PRC issued an announcement on November 26, 2007. The examinees only got hold of Resolution No. 07-12 on December 6, 2007 when they initiated a dialogue with the PRC and the members of the Board of Civil Engineering.

Such actions is not only unprofessional on the part of the PRC but worse, a deceptive move on the part of the Commission that effectively branded the whole batch – I mean ALL examinees -- as cheaters without the benefit of an open and thorough investigation.

Let me emphasize that this is unlike last year's nursing exam controversy, where review centers were proven to be involved in the systematic cheating after a number of students exposed their modus operandi. This time, the PRC nullified the examination results of one subject, Hydraulics and Geotechnical Engineering, simply because in its view, it was “statistically improbable” that 461 our of 4,782 examinees perfected the exam.

On the other hand, the results of the examination on another subject, Structural Engineering and Construction, was also nullified because not because there was massive cheating but simply because two examinees were caught cheating using their mobile phones, one of which contained answers to 30 questions of which 21 were found to be correct.

It appears that PRC Chair Leonor Tripon-Rosero, Board of Civil Engineering Chairman Angel Lazaro III, and members Apollo S. Enriquez and Pedro Adonis Compendio are too gung-ho in assuming and branding the whole batch as cheaters in the two subjects by way of nullifying the results and calling for a retake. They are also downright lazy since they made their decision without conducting an appropriate investigation.

Mr. Speaker, dear colleagues, the PRC decision to nullify the said examination results has no factual and legal basis as there is no law or rule that has set a standard regarding “statistically improbable results.” So what if 461 examinees got perfect scores? If there is no evidence that they cheated, and none have been presented so far, then the PRC will simply have to accept the fact that there are 461 brilliant engineering graduates, at least in so far as hydraulics and geotechnical engineering is concerned.

As to the act of cheating using mobile phones as codigo, the evidence gathered so far is only enough to nullify the exam results of ONLY two persons and to suspend them from taking the examinations for the next 2 years, as provided under PRC Resolution No. 463 dated November 27, 1996.

Clearly, the PRC has acted with undue haste in nullifying the examination results and ordering a retake thereof without first conducting a fair and thorough investigation. By its paranoid actions, the PRC is ironically undermining the integrity of the Civil Engineering profession.

We believe that the PRC, in issuing the official announcement nullifying the examination results, violated the right to due process of all the examinees. This abrupt PRC decision requiring all the examinees to retake the exams is simply an act of injustice. Sure, those caught cheating should be penalized. But the PRC decision penalizes the whole batch of examinees on the flimsy basis of statistical improbability in one exam and because two cheaters were caught in another.

Mr. Speaker, everyone deserves an explanation. In the absence of an appropriate law that has set the standards, grounds and the appropriate process for the PRC and/or the boards under its supervision to observe before they could order the nullification of examination results in any of the professions under its powers, it would be appropriate to hear the demands of the civil engineering examinees.

We call on the PRC to stop or at least postpone the retake of the two subjects in the civil engineering licensure exams on January 12, 2007 pending a thorough, fair and transparent investigation.

The PRC should also immediately release the results of the examination and schedule the oath-taking of those who passed the examination and penalize those found guilty of cheating in the licensure exams.

Mr. Speaker, if the PRC wants to clean up its controversial image, it should not seriously damage the professions that it exercises regulatory powers on the way it has done to the nursing profession and now, the civil engineering profession.

This Representation fully believes that it should penalize those who run afoul of the law. But it should not result in the wholesale nullification of exam results just because it has discovered “statistical improbabilities” that they themselves cannot explain since they have not investigated anything.

The PRC must explain to this Chamber why it has resorted to violating the rights of due process of all the civil engineering licensure examinations.

Mr. Speaker, we have to help these future engineers whose reputations have been debased by the highly unprofessional acts of the PRC. It is my hope that we can help in cleaning up the said Commission and help in protecting the rights and welfare of the various professions under its power. Thus, a congressional inquiry should be made into the matter.

Thank you, Mr. Speaker.

Statement Made by ENGR PERFECTO PADILLA, JR

Practically all My Students in Cebu (both feeling pass or fail) say
NO TO RETAKE!

I contacted engineering schools here and they were very disappointed
with the PRC announcement! School Deans too are signing the petition
that I'll be forwarding to them tomorrow.

Personally, I pray that PRC will minimize the damage by just
accepting their fault and be responsible and professional enough for
their negligence. Victims (examinees) for sure will not remain
silent. They will keep on making noise. This will be very bad for the
Institute and for the country. Everybody loses.
Why not PRC just admit that they were negligent in Cagayan de Oro;
retract the RETAKE ORDER; put on hold the result of only the 2
students caught in possession of cellphones (examinees caught in
possession of cellphones) and their respective boardmates/barkada. ;
penalize EXAMINEES base on clear PRC rules when proven guilty; but
for the rest release the result soonest? Those are the simplest and
most HONORABLE things PRC can and MUST DO!

WAS THERE LEAKAGE OF QUESTIONS?
None! You don't need a cellphone if the questions already leaked out.

WAS THE CHEATING MASSIVE?
We conducted an INDEPENDENT investigation/ inquiry. The cheating was
not massive! It only involved a handful of students; namely, the one
caught with 21correct of 30answers and take note of this, SOME of HIS
BOARDMATES/SCHOOLMA TES
How were the answers sent to Him? One of their colaborators who
finished the exam ahead of them sent the answers to him by text. That
explains why only 21 out of 30 were correct. Either the examinee-
sender is not a very brilliant student, or he intentionally sent
correct answers equivalent only to passing (70%) (para hindi sya
agrabyado) PRC can easily check the accuracy of this information by
asking NBI to interrogate T*****and J****** and their respective
boardmates/barkada.

IS THE RESULT IN GEOTECHNICAL ENGINEERING STATISTICAL IMPROBABLE?
Let me explain this very clearly and CORRECTLY!
Statistics is a record or records of set of scores that already
happened in the PAST.
You ask all veteran instructors of the more than 1000 colleges,
schools and
universities in the Philippines if they never had at least an exam
where 1/10
of their students got perfect score. 1/4 got above 90% score. 1/2 got
above
70% rating. They certainly had at least one exam with such
statistics. That
means, the record set by CE examinees in the Nov 2007 Board exam is
not
new, nor seldom.
Probability is a rational number from 0 to 1 which is the numerical
expression of the
strength of possible occurence of an outcome.
It means negative number, numbers more than "1" , irrational numbers
like
1/pi and 1/e cannot be values of probability.
But 1/10, 1/4, and 1/2 (ratio of students who got 100%, above 90%,
and above
70% respectively in the subject Geotechnical Engineering) are all
rational
numbers between "0" and "1".
Thus, while such set of score may be unfrequent or worse, rare, but
DEFINITELY, they are VERY MUCH STATISTICALLY AND MATHEMATICALLY
PROBABLE.

I know that Dr Ibe, former acting commissioner and now PRC consultant
in test construction and statistics, will agree with me that "an exam
in which a lot of students fail or get too many low scores could be
due to the following reasons: 1)Irrelevant Questions, 2) Unexpected
question 3) too difficult questions, 4) too short a time allotted,
and 5) too many WEAK Students 6) POOR TEACHERS.
None of the five reasons above is present in the SAID SUBJECT.
1. Questions are RELEVANT: Those are very much just fluid mechanics
and geotechnical engineering.
2. They are all EXPECTED QUESTIONS. All are mere repetitions of
previous Exams by the same examiner except for the given.
3. Most students even undergrads will agree that ALL questions are
EASY
4. Four(4) Hours as usual is so much more than enough for 27
questions of such degree of difficulty.
5. If there is no way to prove that the examinees in the said board
exam are better, likewise, NO WAY to prove that too many are weak.
6. Same logic in number 5
THUS, THERE IS NO REASON WHY A LOT OF STUDENTS WILL GET LOW SCORES IN
SAID SUBJECT.

On the other hand, possible reasons for a set of very high turnout of
very high scores are the following: 1)Very manageable/easy
Questions , 2) Expected/Repeated Questions, 3) Very ample time
allotted, 4) Too many Inteligent students, or 5) there is a MASSIVE
leakage!

Numbers 1,2, and 3 are very much satisfied by the exam in the subject
of "Fluid Mechanics and Geotechnical Engineering" .

You don't need Number 4 to get high turnout of high scores if Numbers
1 to 3 are satisfied.

To say that there WAS a MASSIVE leakage/cheating is NOT JUST
IMPROBABLE. IT IS IMPOSSIBLE!! !!

If there was a leakage, CHEATERS DON'T NEED A CELL PHONE. They will
rather have a hard copy or just memorize the answers.
In Manila, Baguio City, cell phones were collected by proctors and
returned only after the exam.
In Cebu, cell phones were collected, examinees were bodily searched,
pockets were reversed, socks were removed and inspected, shoes were
asked to be removed for inspection. That's how strict the
implementation of exam in Cebu was.

While Cheating is probable, MASSIVE ORGANIZED CHEATING IS NOT

AUGUST 2002 MARINE DECK Board exam as a precedent?
In the abovementioned Board Exam, a hardcopy of answers (98 of 100 OF
THEM CORRECT) was found in the possession of at least one examinee!
The subject with an unusually high scores and high turnout of passing
scores was in that subject where the said answer key was confiscated.
Obviously, this case is not parallel to what happened in Nov 2007 CE
Board Exam and thus, cannot be the basis for RETAKE ORDER.

2006 NURSING BOARD EXAM
In the abovementioned Board exam, actual Questions in the Board exam
already leaked out before the actual exam. There were no such in the
CE Board exam.

CONCLUSION AND RECOMMENDATIONS:

1. THERE WAS NO LEAKAGE OF QUESTIONS THAT HAPPENED!

2. CHEATING WAS COMMITTED BY ONLY A HANDFUL OF EXAMINEES ONLY IN
CAGAYAN DE ORO CITY AND WAS MADE POSSIBLE BY THE CONSISTENT
NEGLIGENCE OF PRC OFFICIALS THERE.

3. THE RATING IN THE SUBJECT OF "FLUID MECHANICS & GEOTECHNICAL
ENGINEERING" IS STATISTICALLY VERY MUCH PROBABLE.

4. STOP THE MENTAL AND EMOTIONAL TORTURE OF THE EXAMINEES BY
IMMEDIATELY RELEASING THE RESULT OF THE EXAM SOONEST

5. DEFER EXAM RESULTS OF ONLY STUDENTS CAUGHT WITH THEIR CELL PHONE
AND THEIR RESPECTIVE BOARDMATES/BARKADAS /SCHOOLMATES

6. PRC MAKE A PUBLIC ADMISSION OF THEIR NEGLIGENCE IN cAGAYAN DE ORO
CITY. This is to clarify things that our exam was marred by
Nationwide massive leakage/cheating

7. PRC AND OUR RESPECTED BOARD OF EXAMINERS WHO SIGNED THE RESOLUTION
FOR RETAKE MAKE A PUBLIC apology and ANNOUNCEMENT OF THEIR ERROR : IN
PRONOUNCING THE RETAKE ORDER DUE TO THEIR CARELESS, HURRIED, AND
WRONG ASSESSMENT OF THE SITUATION. This is MANDATORY if we are to
preserve the integrity of our profession, and our country. Doing
recommendations 6 and 7 is necessary so as not to strengthen
the "filipinos are cheaters" international impression brought about
by the nursing board exam scandal.

THIS ACTION WAS STARTED, LETS JOIN HANDS TO FINISH IT!

REQUEST FOR OFFICIAL POSITION OF THE SCHOOL’S EXAMINEES

ON THE PURSUANCE OF THE LEGAL CASE AND ON

AGREEMENT OF AN OPTIONAL-RETAKE

CIVIL ENGINEERING LICENSURE EXAMINATION NOVEMBER 2007

The Civil Engineering Against Retake Students’ Union (CE AGRESSION), representatives of the examinees of the Civil Engineering Licensure Examination November 2007, filed a petition last Monday, December 3, 2007, as a response to the official announcement released by the Professional Regulation Commission (PRC) last November 26, 2007. The Commission nullified the two subjects in the said exam, namely Hydraulics and Geotechnical Engineering, and Structural Engineering and Construction due to some “irregularities”.

The following is the timeline of the CE retake controversy:

27 November – the examinees first learned of the alleged irregularities and retake through TV news program.

28 November – they obtained a copy of the official announcement from the Professional Regulation Commission which was officially released on November 26, 2007. Neil Erich Galicia, a graduate of Ateneo de Naga University, initiated to call a meeting to discuss the necessary actions to be taken. Petitioners wrote an open letter to the Commission seeking reconsideration of its decision to nullify the examination results of the two (2) subjects.

29 November – CE AGRESSION called the attention of the media and requested for a press conference. Unfortunately, the said conference was cancelled because of the The Peninsula Standoff incident. The group, instead, discussed the next planned actions including a mobilization and seeking of legal assistance.

30 November – the group continued the meeting and finalized the preparations of the first mobilization scheduled on December 3, 2007.

01 December – Dianne May Casimiro, head of the campaign committee, requested for the support of the other student groups of the Polytechnic University of the Philippines (PUP).

02 December – Rachel Ann Apuan, head of the Legal committee met Atty. Jobert Pahilga of the National Union Lawyers’ of the Philippines (NULP) to personally discuss and finalize the petition.

03 December – At 10:00 AM, the CE AGRESSION held a rally marching from P. Noval Street Sampaloc Manila to the PRC. Along with the mobilization, the group officially filed the petition to the Office of the Chairperson of the PRC and requested for a dialogue/ meeting with all concerned officials.

04 December – the group received a confirmation of dialogue/ meeting with the PRC scheduled on December 6, 2007, at 10:00AM at the Conference Room of PRC. Representatives from different colleges and universities met to prepare for the said dialogue/ meeting. Galicia and Atty. Pahilga were invited for a live news interview with Ces Drilon of ANC “PrimeNews” to discuss the issue.

05 December – Atty. Pahilga met the representatives to orient them with the dialogue. They also reevaluated the details of the petition and of the issue itself.

06 December – the dialogue/ meeting. The following concerns and issues were raised during the two-hour deliberation:

1. The Commission will decide on the petition of the examinees before the ordered retake on January 12, 2008.

2. The Commission will not withdraw the ordered retake but suggested an OPTIONAL RETAKE to the examinees. The optional retake can be taken by the examinees while the investigation is still on-going. If an examinee passed the retake examination, PRC will recognize the result regardless of the result of the investigation in the petition. But if an examinee failed on the retake examination but passed the November 2007 Board Exam, he/she will still get a passing rate if the petition of the Union succeeds.

3. CE AGRESSION will not withdraw its petition filed to PRC. In this connection, CE AGRESSION will file a motion to speed up the investigation and their decision regarding the issue.

4. PRC Resolution No. 07-12 states that the examination result in the subject Hydraulics and Geotechnical Engineering is “statistically improbable” because of the unusually high grades/ratings obtained by 461 of the 4782 examinees who got a perfect score.

5. Dr. Milagros Ibe, the Consultant of the Commission on Test Construction and Statistics, recommended for the nullification of the examination result in Hydraulics and Geotechnical Engineering because of its statically improbability. CE AGRESSION is not convinced on the conclusion made by Dr. Ibe because the only basis is statistics. She did not include the level of difficulty of the questions as a primary basis.

6. PRC confirmed that there are no irregularities in Hydraulics and Geotechnical Engineering but stated that the unusual high grade is an irregularity by itself.

7. The Commission also attested that there is an incident of cheating happened in Cagayan de Oro testing center. According to them, these are already investigated and there will still be further investigation.

8. PRC stated that they are open to ideas of postponement of the date of retake examination and retake for all subjects.

9. Dr. Lazaro confirmed that there is no leakage on the November 2007 Civil Engineering Board Exam.

.

By this, the Secretariat and the lawyers of CE AGRESSION are officially requesting the position of the 4,782 examinees through their schools on their consensus of:

1. CE AGRESSION shall pursue the case and shall stand firm to “No Retake” until the investigation is completed. It will petition the courts to stop/enjoin the retake on January 12, 2008;

2. CE AGRESSION shall pursue the case and shall accept the optional retake as explained in dialogue number 2 of 06 December.

Due to time constraint, CE AGRESSION is hereby requesting all schools to coordinate and contact their graduates/ examinees to decide on the abovementioned options. Deadline for this shall be on or before December 12, 2007 through an official statement stating your position with the signatures of the examinees and the school officials. Please send the position through fax, number (02) 309-7486.

Done on this 7th day of December, 2007 in Metro Manila Philippines.

The Hard Lessons on Love and Men

1. A man won’t let go if he really loves you.

Do not hold on to someone who has let go of you. He does not love you and does not value having you anymore. Believe me, he will not let go if he really loves you. There are some
reasons he is not willing to tell.

2. Do not look for reasons why he ended the relationship.

There is only one reason why he ended your relationship. He just does not love you. Do not waste your time thinking of reasons or what you should have done. Move on and be open to a
man who will truly love you.(For sure he's happy now with someone else..)

3. Do not get hang up on your past.

Do not nag or distrust your current boyfriend just because your ex hurt you. Do not treat him or the relationship the same way. Do not compare. He will not react the same way as your ex. Do not be worried that your simple mistakes will cause him to look for another girl. What
happened with your ex was not your fault. It was not because you didn’t guard him enough or you didn’t make him happy enough.

4. Do not look into images.

How many times have you met a girl who didn’t have the best image in school or at the office, but you get to know the girl and found out she was actually extremely nice? Do not rely
on images. Oftentimes, it is far from reality. Do not fear men just because your “supposedly” perfect ex-boyfriend mistreated you.

5. Always have your own set of rules.

Set your limits on how far you’d go for a guy. It’s perfectly ok to give and do everything as long as it’s worth it. And it’s worth it if the guy is treating you right.

6. Do not be scared to lose him.

Don’t be scared that he’ll break up with you. Once you are afraid of losing him, you easily can be taken advantage. Be strong and if something is unacceptable, do not accept it and speak up.

7. Avoid calling your guy.

It’s a guy thing. The relationship will definitely be better if it’s the guy who’s calling, not the girl. He will get tired of you if you keep on calling. He will lose interest and challenge. More so, he will get annoyed. But it’s a girl thing also that your fingers get too itchy until you dial his number. But avoid as much as possible. Call only if really needed (like checking if your
suspicions are reasonable).

8. There is a guy who will value you.

There is a guy out there who can make you feel valued, appreciated, and loved. And I mean, not just during your first few weeks together. So don’t lose hope. Don’t settle for a lesbian if you are not attracted to women. There is a man out there who can love you like a girl can (*wink*).

Also, do not believe him when he says it’s just the way he really is. He’s not the sweet or expressive-type. Remember during your first few weeks together? Where has that sweet guy
gone? He simply is not that into you anymore.

9. Always be the only one, no matter what.

Do not ever fall for a guy who has another girl, be it his wife, girlfriend, or any girl that he says
he just can’t get rid of for whatever reason. If you truly believe that he loves you and for some reason, he can’t leave or let go of another girl, then you are no different from any
ordinary mistress.

10. He must respect you.

No matter how long the relationship has been, he should always show respect towards you.

11. If he fooled you, end it.

Philandering once is enough. You can never trust nor respect the person again.

12. Never start a relationship the wrong way.

Do not steal another girl’s man, for whatever reason. Nor should you enter a relationship for the wrong reasons (loneliness, on the rebound, getting back at your ex, man-dependency, etc.)
it is bound not to last. You will only end up wasting more years of your life.

13. Do not force yourself into a relationship.

Do not get into a relationship just because your friends are getting impatient with your dating escapades and the one hasn’t come yet. Do not choose who to say yes to based on superficial things like money, looks, cars, etc.. If you are even thinking of these things, you have not fallen in love yet.

14. Do not settle.

If you are not happy anymore with your relationship, break up instantly. He will not stay with you forever no matter how upright he might seem to be. Eventually, he will also want love and happiness in his life.

15. A relationship has to have love.

Love is the only thing that will push you to give your efforts into making the relationship work. And believe me, keeping a relationship requires genuine efforts of both parties.

16. Don’t be afraid to be single.

It’s fun to be single, try it. You can go out whenever and wherever you want. You are free. You can date whomever you want and you get to go out for free! Do not get a boyfriend just for the sake of having one. Do not settle.

17. Be a good girl.

Be a good girl to attract a good guy. Enter the relationship with sincere intentions. Take the guy and the relationship seriously with the plan of spending the rest of your life with that person (of course, this is after you had your bit of fun in your younger years). If you compare your flings from your real relationships, you will know that the latter makes you happier and more fulfilled.

18. Love without limits.

Whether you loved and gave everything or loved but held out for some things, if the relationship ends, you still get hurt. But if you gave your everything, you were happy and you could say that it was worth it. If you didn’t give your all, you get hurt for nothing.

19. You will get over him.

Love is over-stated. Set him free! Love eventually ends and you are free to love another.

20. Be the one.

Act like you are the one. Don’t be a nagger. Don’t hinder his gimmicks. Don’t give in to him too easily. Make him treat you as important. Don’t be easy. Don’t be like every other girl he had in his life.

The Logical Conclusion

Hehehe.... That was our phrase for the night last night. It has an odd story about it, and as much as I'd want to share it to you, I just think I can't.

Anyway, I'm just gonna share something else today. I've discovered a link to a fantastic business idea, a home-grown Filipino website which basically draws from Alibaba. But the thing is, it's catering to the Philippine market and is set to attract lots and lots of Filipino businessmen who want some exposure to the e-trade. Well, this is your chance at that.

Introducing you all to AnobaShop!

This is run and managed by a well-meaning business oriented professional who also wanted to dip his toes on cyberspace businesses and this is one of his projects. He was also the brainchild behind our church's website. Anyway, you can try and register at AnobaShop and try out it's cool features - one of which is to be able to scour for new suppliers, post your own offers to buy or sell, or just be able to determine whether you have competitors and fish out ideas on how to strategize yourself with or against them. The thing is, this can broaden the geographical scope of your company's market, and because it's in the world wide web, other businessmen from all over the world can also view your company profile and products and maybe, if they choose to, conduct business with you! It's not only easy and user-friendly, it opens a world of opportunities - literally.

Waaaaahhhhhhh!! Sleepy me!!!

I'm in a bit of a "mess" right now - I'M SLEEPY!

Crazy me is sleepy. Yep, I know it's old news but I AM really sleepy. Think I dozed off last night at about 3 in the morning ( hehe) and had to wake up at 6 the next day 'coz I had to do a favor for a friend. Hmm.. wait a minute, haven't you all noticed? I haven't been rambling about my so called "lovelife"... Why?! Because I really don't have one, which logically means, I have nothing to ramble about.

So let's change the scene. I'm in the office right now, a wee bit relieved despite my heavy head, because our 13th month pay have already hit the banking cyberspace and escaped the maze of ATMs to drop right into my hands. Well, at least not all of it - have to save some for my trip back home for Christmas. You know how you need a little extra oomph when you go home for occasions such as Christmas... Hehehe...

Anyway, think we're going out of office premises this lunchtime to go to a near mall - to scavenge for xmas gifts. I'm also going to look around, nagpapatulong kasi si mommy para dun sa inaanak nila - stuffed toy daw na violet. Ako naman, I have this inaanak din, kaso di pwede ang stuffed toy, unless I want him to develop an inkling to be gay. {No offense..}

What Famous Leader Are You?

hahaha, this is crazy!!!!

Really!!! Can You Imagine?!

Ok, don't answer that... razz

WIFE vs GIRLFRIEND...How Do U Know?!

How do you guys know if u've got a wifey or a girlfriend?!

THIS IS HOW.....

*your girlfriend will hang up the phone when she gets mad
*your wifey will sit there and yell until u UNDERSTAND... even if you don't

*your girlfriend will smile and laugh quietly at your jokes
*your wifey will burst out laughing not caring if she looks wierd

*Only you will know when your girlfriend is mad at you
*Your WHOLE crew will know when your wifey is mad at you

*your girlfriend only knows a few on your friends
*your wifey has inside jokes with them

*your girlfriend remembers the day you guys started going out and your birthday untill you break up
*your wifey knows the day you started going out, your birthday, the first time you kissed, and so much more even after you break up

*your girlfriend will tell you what she adores about you
*your wifey will tell you EVERYTHING she adores and hates about you

*your girlfriend will be there untill you tell her to leave
*your wifey will be there even after you beg her to leave

*Everytime you see your girlfriend you smile
*Everytime you see your wifey you're heart actually feels different

*your girlfriend wants the best for you even if its not her and she tells you that
*your wifey goes through hell and it kills her to think of you with someone else thats not her and she tells you that

*your girlfriend will move on when its over and keep you there as friends
*your wifey will cry her eyes out and try to fix what went wrong

*you KNOW that she's a girlfriend when you look at her and think of some one else
*you KNOW that she's you're wifey when she's the one you think about when you look at some one else

Basically:
Who came to your mind when you read the Wifey part?
Who ever that was... then that's your wifey....
If you have that girl now, don't let go. You might regret it...

1000 Visits!

Just checked today and voila! This blog have had 1000 visits already! (That's in one counter only, I just noticeed that the other counter has already registered 1,700+ visits!!! GREAT!!! I really don't mind if those were unique or not, as long as it's a thousand, I'm fine with that!)

Anyway, my friend is still quite annoyed AND upset with the CE Board Exam Retake thingy, and he's now spending a little time unwinding and telling himself not to hate PRC too much.

Hmmm.. I also heard that Manila Peninsula will be opening its doors again to the public today at about 3pm. What a time. I wonder what's so special with 3pm.
question

What else? Ummm, went out last Saturday to relax a bit, saw Hitman. It was not really THAT nice. I mean, it didn't quite live up to expectations. It was nice in a way or two, but not so attention-grabbing like the Bourne series or even the Transporter.... But this is just my opinion.... hehehe...

Anyway, have to go....

A Christmas Party Too Late

We just heard this morning that our company Christmas Party is temporarily being moved to Dec 23. Bummer. I dislike the idea because that would mean that if and only if I decide to join the said occasion, I should also move my travel back home another day, which means, I would get to spend lesser time with my family this season. And that, I don't like because...

Because I'm thinking of not spending the New Year with them. Don't fret just yet, I was just STILL thinking about it.

I might of course change my mind in the course of 15 to 20 days.

Government Agency Exemplifies Immature Judgment & Unfair Decision-making which Others Find Laudable

I personally feel that it's somewhat idiotic to base decisions on something that's just "irregular". Something more solid and logical should be made basis.

If you guys don't want people to pass board exams, then don't give them in the first place. Or if that statement happened to stike a nerve, why not TRY TO ANSWER THE ACTUAL EXAM FIRST TO SEE IF IT'S REALLY EASY OR NOT.

Professionals? Yeah, right. Prove it to me.

PRC orders retake of parts of Civil Engineering exam

THE Professional Regulation Commission has ordered a retake in the subjects Hydraulics and Geotechnical Engineering and Structural Engineering and Construction in the November 17 and 18, 2007, civil engineer licensure examination given by the Board of Civil Engineering.

The commission nullified examination results in the two subjects after it discovered “irregularities” in the results. A total of 4,782 examinees took the licensure examination in eight test centers nationwide—Manila, Baguio, Cagayan de Oro, Cebu, Davao, Iloilo, Legazpi and Tacloban.

The commission, in a statement, said the examination results in Hydraulics and Geotechnical Engineering were “statistically improbable,” pointing to the “unusually” high grades obtained by the examinees. In Structural Engineering and Construction, the commission added, two examinees were caught in possession of mobile phones, which were confiscated by an agent of the National Bureau of Investigation (NBI). The mobile phones were later turned over to the commission. It said it had discovered that one of the mobile phones contained answers to 30 examination questions wherein 21 answers were found to be correct.

The commission reported the irregularities and its decision to order a retake after nullifying the results in the two subjects to Secretary Arturo Brion of the Department of Labor and Employment. The statement said Brion “lauded [its] swift and decisive action.”

The commission referred the matter to the NBI, suggesting that the bureau conduct an investigation, including the identification of the people behind the irregularities.

To afford the examinees the earliest possible opportunity to retake the examination in the two subjects without need for further review class, the commission said it will administer the test on January 12, 2008, without need to pay the examination fee. The commission added that the examinees shall no longer take the subject Mathematics, Surveying and Transportation Engineering.

Examination details on the new school where the test will be conducted and room assignment will be posted at the commission’s central and regional offices and on its website.

The examinees are required to present their notice of admission, which they used in the November 17 and 18, 2007, examination, on the day of the retake.

Last year, the Professional Regulatory Commission also discovered irregularities in the licensure examination for nurses. Examinees retook parts of the test early this year.

What Men & Fever Have in Common

Found this in Chai's blog which was written by Mara... hehehe... enjoy reading!

---o0o---

What men and fever have in common.

Being the medical student that I am, I would like to apply my miniscule knowledge by classifying the taken men that have lingered in my life using the different types of fever. Haha.

Definition of terms:
* recall that the normal body temperature is about 37 degrees.
This temperature is the BASELINE.

1. Intermittent fever - this type of fever waxes and wanes, but when it does wane, it hits the baseline. Meaning, it goes back to the normal body temperature of 37 degrees after every febrile episode, then it goes up again.

2. Remittent fever - although this type of fever also waxes and wanes, your temperature NEVER hits the baseline. Thus, your temperature never normalizes despite the many ups and downs of your temperature.

3. Relapsing fever - this fever alternates with days, or even weeks, with baseline temperature.

4. Continuous fever - speaks for itself doesn't it? The fever that never goes down.

So, let me attempt to be profound. Haha. Am I trying to liken taken men to fever because taken men are in some ways, a disease? Haha. Perhaps.

As I mentioned, there is a baseline temperature. And of course what's the baseline in this case study? FRIENDSHIP!

1. The intermittent man

Temporal profile of the relationship: Months
Character profile of the man: immature.

The "honeymoon phase" of a relationship is filled with extremes. When you love, you love, but when you hate, all hell WILL break lose. This is why intermittent men are so fickle. Example, girlfriend starts to be demanding. Girlfriend begins to be ultra jealous. Intermittent guy starts to chicken out. Oh no, this is not the girl i fell in love with. Then he starts to seek comfort from a meantime girl. Why can't she be like you? I wish I pursued you instead of her. What will happen if I leave her? Do we have a chance? The barrage of flatteries carry on for days. He texts you the WHOLE day, asks if you've eaten, what you're doing. He tells you he misses you. He calls you up before going to sleep. And then, he STOPS. Why? Most likely because the girlfriend and him are chummy chums again. But the reason why it's intermittent is that when you see each other in school, when you see him and the girlfriend together, you act and you genuinely feel, that it's okay. You don't feel any pain when you see them eating, studying, laughing. It's because although there are some spikes of chemistry, you always return to the baseline. You always fall back to good old reliable friendship. And, the cycle starts again.

2. The remittent man

  • Temporal profile of his relationship: Years

  • Character profile of the man: expert. Several girls on the side and not likely to stop anytime in this life.

Oh, this man is HOT. He knows what he's got - the looks, the charisma, and he flaunts them like there is no tomorrow. He knows what women want and attacks until you're beaten senseless. When you're together, he treats you like a princess. But when you're apart, he doesn't text you the way the intermittent guy did, and because of the longer temporal profile of his relationship, he tends to be drop hints that you truly are just a meantime girl. Unlike the intermittent man, he deludes you less. Maybe our children will end up together. Funny thing is, despite the bombs he drops on your heart, he still knows the perfect things to say to keep you coming back for more. Sometimes, when I'm with my girlfriend, all I do is think of you, wish that she was you.. These are times I just sleep the night away, because I wish it was your arms around me, not hers.. You KNOW it's a line. You KNOW that he will NEVER leave her for you. But, this guy is SO damn good, that you lose your defenses despite your arrogant beliefs that YOU KNOW BETTER. Why remittent? You NEVER hit friendship. Just seeing the girlfriend tears you apart. Imagine what seeing them together will do to your sanity. Because you have TOO MUCH chemistry, when things end, and you KNOW it will, you will never see each other in the same light again. Unlike intermittent guy's girlfriend whom you can actually have a decent conversation with, you CANNOT look remittent guy's girlfriend in the eye because you are guilty. Because sometimes, the worst kind of cheating is NOT holding hands, NOT kissing, NOT even THAT deed. Sometimes the worst kind, is FALLING IN LOVE WITH SOMEONE ELSE. And remittent guy, because of his several, SEVERAL needs, falls in love easily with the girls who succumb to his power. I love you. Stupid oaf uses this carelessly. He may or may not mean it. But it doesn't matter. Still, more stupid meantime girl falls for it. Falls for HIM. Cycle repeats itself, never hitting baseline, and you always pray that it wont. Coz you never want to be "JUST FRIENDS".

3. The relapsing man

  • Temporal profile of the relationship: Variable. May even have more than one girlfriend
  • Character profile of the man: smug. If love was a game, he invented it.

This man is a true blue player. The one thing that's good about him is, hindi siya nambobola. He doesn't believe in having to sweep a girl off her feet, doesn't see the need for preliminaries. You are first and foremost friends. Well, with some benefits. He may or may not be committed, but unlike the abovementioned two, his conscience is more hypofunctioning, thus he has more girls than they ever will in their lifetimes. Relapsing because he wouldn't text for weeks, just to suddenly appear out of the blue. Like the intermittent guy, your friendship with the relapsing man is rock-solid. However, with relapsing man, the lines are crystal clear. There are no expectations, no delusions of grandeur, no misplaced affcetions. You both seek each other out just for the company, and there are absolutely no strings attached. You know all the girls he's involved with, and he knows all the guys you're seeing. You laugh at each other's conquests, talk about each other's relationships. It's the simplest arrangement of all. You have no illusions of ever being with him, of ever sharing something real with him. You know what kind of person he is, and he knows what kind of person you are. Others would call him, the alcohol ball. If there's a stress ball, there's an alcohol ball. You get the picture.

4. The continuous man
  • Temporal profile of the relationship: Variable.
  • Character profile of the man: disillusioned. Actually believes that you are his ONE TRUE LOVE.

You definitely broke his heart. And chances are, he never really recovered. You haven't seen each other for years. He has asked to see you several occasions, but you never really agree. Since you were the one who did the leaving, you know that you're in much better shape than he is. Maybe you don't want to see another human being hurt so tragically. Or maybe you just don't want to explain why you left him in the first place. Either way, you're really not into seeing him again. Then you decide, What the hell, we shared something, the least we can do is be friends again. So you see him again and WHAM. Big mistake. Despite the fact that he knows you're over him, the fact that you obviously are seeing other people, and the very IMPORTANT fact that he HAS A GIRLFRIEND, he constantly texts, constantly asks to see you.. Well you get the picture, he's constant, continuous. Tell him you'd go back to him and he'll drop his girl for you in a heartbeat. But you NEVER do. Because life was never meant to be THAT easy.

So, what kind of a fever are you?

Feeling:Terrible

I'm not feeling very well today. And for all the care in the world, I have no idea why I'm not feeling well. And I think I'm not making much sense right now.

My head's starting to throb already.I just hope it doesn't get to be a full-blown migraine attack because I'm starting to get fed up with the medications I try to take to ease the pain. I guess I'd have to upgrade my eyeglasses asap. Hmmm. I was planning on waiting until Christmas to do that, but my eyes are now on strike. I've been having migraine attacks for the past 3 months already. Even if some of those migraines were brought about by stress and too much thinking/worrying, I'd still vote for the eyeglass upgrade.

I also didn't want to take a quick after lunch nap, because then my body wouold really like the break and will then force me to do myself a favor and go to a deep REM sleep - which I definitely cannot do while I'm in the office. Poor me. Hmph.

Anyway, guess I'd have to cut this post short. Need to rest my eyes a bit.

Calm Yourself Down!

It's a pretty amusing day today... Started my day anxiously, v'been a little worried how the confrontation with the boss and the auditee would turn out - apparently, it went well. More then well...

I've been a little paranoid because it was actually going to be the first time it will happen for me, the auditee, the boss and the auditor (that's me) will have a "confrontation" and these things usually are pretty bloody. Hehe, good thing I was nervous as hell... Hahaha, joke.

Yeah, I was nervous as hell, my whole body was trembling, my hands were shaking while I was talking, and my voice also shook a bit. But a little later, I started calming down, but the process was not fast enough because the meeting already ended and I was still shaking. hahaha, tapang-tapangan ang show.

Anyway, it was okay, think my recommendations are going to be taken seriously, have to watch my back though from now own because I again saw how these managers will got to lengths just to save their slimy little butts...

Anyway, have to go... Need to relaw a little or else I'm gonna have a heart attack.

If You Want it YOUR Way, DO IT YOURSELF!!!!

This post is dedicated to the one and only most annoying Department Head known for saying one thing while she's face to face with you and then (pick one)

  • not saying anything because she doesn't have the gutts to,
  • says the things SHE wants done when the people who worked and perspired beforehand are no longer in the room,
  • says a different thing when you're gone,
  • or denying altogether that she ever said anything at all.

CRAZY WOMAN!

Don't you realize that almost every other department head and manager in this fu**ing company hates you and your guts (given that you even have any) because you ARE SO PLASTIC!!! GRRRRHHHH!!!

I am actually trembling because of rage for this woman! You are so hated right now!

But trust me, eventually, you won't be worth anything at all.

Having A Baaaad Day

A little guy is sitting at the bar just staring at his drink for half an hour when this big trouble-making biker steps next to him, grabs his drink and gulps it down in one swing.

The poor little guy starts crying.

"Come on, man. I'm just giving you a hard time," the biker says.
"I didn't think you'd CRY. I can't stand to see a man cry."

"This is the worst day of my life," says the little guy between sobs...
"I can't do anything right.

I overslept and was late to an important meeting, so my boss fired me. When I went to the parking lot, I found my car was stolen and I don't have any insurance. I left my wallet in the cab I took home. I found my wife in bed with the gardener and my dog bit me. So, I came to this bar trying to work up the courage to put an end to my life, and then you show up and drink the damn poison."

Frea*ing Brownouts

I believe...

that....

the...

ENGINEERING department sucks!

We've been experiencing on-off-on-off times for just about 2 hours now, and there has been, let me see, 5 times that the power went out, and just about the same number of times that it came back. It just came back on as I'm typing this post. I have no idea why it's happening, hopefully the "engineers" know what's happening, I think I heard something like there has been a power problem in a nearby city/municipality or whatever. Hmmm. To think that the President of the whole company is actually here for a series of serious meetings.

Good thing I'm using a laptop and a UPS. Hahaha... You can hate me now.

Running Out of Happy Thoughts

Hmmm, last night I realized as I stared blankly at this wooden make-shift bench in front of my door - I'm running out of happy thoughts. Happy thoughts? What the hell are they for? This started when a friend of mine advised me to just think of happy thoughts to excape being in the speedy downhill path of depression. Scary huh? But that advice proved to be one that came straight from heaven. It has actually helped me rediscover my interest in writing and expressing whatever it is that I'm thinking and feeling - saved me the cost of getting professional help. And I get to practice using the language again which I managed to use less and less in the workplace or in my room. (Although sometimes I feel more comfortable talking to myself in English)

Anyway, going back, yep, I'm running out of happy thoughts, and watching all these series(es) on tv can't give me a fresh supply. And I just can't turn off this uncanny ability to play and replay things in my mind - vividly, I might add - 'coz I just can't. Now I can picture out my conscience screaming frantically and hysterically waving her arms in the air trying to get my attention and saying,"For Pete's sake girl, leave it alone or you'll die before you reach 40!"

Ooops, time to go to work. Enough of the happy thoughts. People just can't have everything they want and be happy. There will always be a compromise.

It's F*cking Freezing in Here!

mood? wanna still ask about my mood?evil

It's so darn freezing here inside my office and I can still get my fingers to tiptap at my keyboard to write this stupid post. Ha! That's perseverance for you.

Think I'm gonna buzz out of this hole for a bit and get myself a hot cup of instant coffee - the only version I can afford while it isn't quite payday...

What If (by Babyface)

I ran into a friend of yours the other day
And I asked her how you been
She said my girl is fine jus bought a house
Got a job a real good man
I told her I was glad for u that’s wonderful
But does she ever ask bout me
She said shes happy with her life right now
Let her go let her be

And I told myself I would
but something in my heart would just not let you go
I just want to know

What if we were wrong about each other
what if you were really made for me
what if we were supposed to be together
would that not mean anything
what if that was supposed to be my house
that you go home to everyday
how can you be sure that things are better
if you cant be sure your heart ain’t still here with me
Still wanting me

Your friend asked me if there was some1 special
in my life that I was seeing
I told her there was no1 in particular
There’s jus I myself and me
I told her that I dream of you quite often
she jus cut her eyes at me
she said you’ve got a home you’re very happy
so jus stop your meddling

I told her that I won't
I said that things were cool
but I guess I was wrong
I still cant move on

What if we were wrong about each other
what if you were really made for me
what if we were supposed to be together
would that not mean anything
what if that was supposed to be my house
that you go home to everyday
how can you be sure that things are better
if you cant be sure your heart ain’t still here with me
Still wanting me

Now that could be my car
that could be my house
that could be my baby boy
that you’re nursing
that could be the trash
That I always take out
that could be the chair
I love to chill in

That could be my food on the table at the end of the day
hugs and the kisses all the love being made
what the hell do u expect me to say
what if its really supposed be this way
what if you’re really supposed to be with me

What if we were wrong about each other
what if you were really made for me
what if we were supposed to be together
would that not mean anything
what if that was supposed to be my house
that you go home to everyday
how can you be sure that things are better
if you cant be sure your heart ain’t still here with me
Still wanting me

What if we were wrong about each other
what if you were really made for me
what if we were supposed to be together
would that not mean anything
what if that was supposed to be my house
that you go home to everyday
how can you be sure that things are better
if you cant be sure your heart ain’t still here with me

Top 10 Reasons to Smile before 12noon!

mood: biggrin

Note: NOT in particular order. ;)

  1. My chikadora officemate. And all the chismis that she knows about the happenings in the office, the employees and the whole the company itself.
  2. Coffee. Makes me smile anytime and everytime I have some; not really a coffee addict though, just love it. but i'm thinking of minimizing my consumption nowadays.
  3. Chocolate. Any form it comes in, whether a chocolate drink, candy, biscuits, whatever, as long as it's chocolate!
  4. Inday jokes. I remembered this super smart Inday and decided to search for some posted collection of her speeches and I had such a good time reading them! Even Kris Aquino and Boy Abunda reportedly had to undergo nose bleeding!
  5. Blogs. My blogs, my precious blogs. Hehehe. I have 3 active blogs which basically have the same contents, but different looks and designs. I have a different set of audience and readers for each, so I'm quite happy despite of the fact that I don't earn any from the ads from adsense and some other things that claim they can provide additional income. Hmph.
  6. TV. This was before I hurried to the office. I usually turn on my tv so that something provides some sort of sound while I'm preparing to scurry to my cave in the hotel.
  7. Officemates. Not that I like seeing them per se, but i love hearing the stupid things they do to get attention and have an impression that they're rooting for Ms Congeniality.
  8. Radio. I can hear a blurred version of the radio that they leave on just outside my office window. The glass actually slurs whatever is playing, but it's audible.
  9. Telephone. I admire Alexander Graham Bell for this. It's one way of communicating with my chikadora officemate without physically going to her table. Minimizes the intrigues and office work backlog.
  10. Internet. Thank God for internet. It's one way of disregarding the chaos in my mind. My way of publishing my thoughts for the world to read and judge if they wanted to. And as far a clouded mind goes, it gives me some distraction of thinking of things I shouldn't be thinking of whole day long.

Perceived Good. So What's Real?

As always, there have been several misconceptions in life. Mostly are perceived as good, like if you work in this certain company, everybody - and I mean everybody- thinks you have such a big salary just because of the name of the company. Careful. That can be the deadliest misconception you can ever believe in your whole life. Especially if you work where I do.

Most of the people I know, closely or not, all think that my company gives out such hefty salaries. But wait! You're all wrong. Unless you're a manager, a corporate director, someone very close to the higher ranking officers, or someone naturally "sip-sip", or trying to be one just to ride on with the salary-increase-wave, you're bound to slightly enjoy a meager pay. Big enough to sustain you 'til the next payday, but at least not small enough to call it minimum wage rate. Hmmm.

I admit, I sometimes get irked at people - even friends - who immediately presume that I have a huge salary. Sometimes it just blows my top off because they point it out as if I'm the only one who doesn't know it as a fact as true as I'm alive or that Chokoleit is gay. And if I try to explain it all to them, they just nod just to make me stop talking. They brush it off as if I was just making up the story so they can't force me to pay for dinner or something. And they still believe with all their hearts that my company pays good. Yeah right. And the next time we get together, we end up having the same conversation again, with the same reactions - which actually pisses me off a lot more - they just can't get the point. If I'm not in the mood to argue, good for all of us. It spares them the effort to listen to my explanations and I don't waste much of my energy re-explaining things - which I'd probably repeat the next week, or month, whichever. Craziness is common nowadays. Good thing I've been a bit crazy for a long time already - I think it was built-in.

Through a Rapist's Eyes

I saw this in one of my online blogs' contacts/friends and I found it interesting to read things like these... plus it had a catchy title... read on girls, it's an FYI... you never know what occurs in other people's minds - even mine.. hehehe...

--o0o--

A group of rapists and date rapists in prison were interviewed on what they look for in a potential victim and here are some interesting facts:

1] The first thing men look for in a potential victim is hairstyle. They are most likely to go after a woman w ith a ponytail, bun, braid or other hairstyle that can easily be grabbed. They are also likely to go after a woman with long hair. Women with short hair are not common targets.

2] The second thing men look for is clothing. They will look for women whose clothing is easy to remove quickly. Many of them carry scissors around to cut clothing.

3] They also look for women on their cell phone, searching through their purse or doing other activities while walking because they are off guard and can be easily overpowered.

4] The number one place women are abducted from/attacked at is a grocery store parking lot.

5] Number two are office parking lots/garages.

6] Number three are public restrooms.

7] The thing about these men is that they are looking to grab a woman and quickly move her to a second location where they don't have to worry about getting caught.

8] If you put up any kind of a fight at all, they get discouraged because it only takes a minute or two for them to realize that going after you isn't worth it because it will be time-consuming.

9] These men said they would not pick on women who have umbrellas, or other similar objects that can be used from a distance, in their hands.

10] Keys are not a deterrent because you have to get really close to the attacker to use them as a weapon. So, the idea is to convince these guys you're not worth it.

POINTS THAT WE SHOULD REMEMBER:

1] If someone is following behind you on a street or in a garage or with you in an elevator or stairwell, look them in the face and ask them a question, like 'what time is it', or make general small talk like 'can't believe it is so cold out here, we're in for a bad winter'. Now that you've seen their faces and could identify them in a line- up, you lose appeal as a target.

2] If someone is coming toward you, hold out your hands in front of you and yell 'Stop!' or 'Stay back!' Most of the rapists this man talked to said they'd leave a woman alone if she yelled or showed that she would not be afraid to fight back. Again, they are looking for an EASY target.

3] If you carry pepper spray (this instructor was a huge advocate of it and carries it with him wherever he goes,) yelling 'I HAVE PEPPER SPRAY!' and holding it out will be a deterrent.

4] If someone grabs you, you can't beat them with strength but you can do it by outsmarting them. If you are grabbed around the waist from behind, pinch the attacker either under the arm between the elbow and armpit or in the upper inner thigh - HARD. One woman in a class this guy taught told him she used the underarm pinch on a guy who was trying to date rape her and was so upset she broke through the skin and tore out muscle strands the guy needed stitches. Try pinching yourself in those places as hard as you can stand it; it really hurts.

5] After the initial hit, always go for the groin. I know from a particularly unfortunate experience that if you slap a guy's parts it is extremely painful. You might think that you'll anger the guy and make him want to hurt you more, but the thing these rapists told our instructor is that they want a woman who will not cause him a lot of trouble. Start causing trouble, and he's out of there.

6] When the guy puts his hands up to you, grab his first two fingers and bend them back as far as possible with as much pressure pushing down on them as possible. The instructor did it to me without using much pressure, and I ended up on my knees and both knuckles cracked audibly.

7] Of course the things we always hear still apply. Always be aware of your surroundings, take someone with you if you can and if you see any odd behavior, don't dismiss it, go with your instincts. You may feel a little silly at the time, but you'd feel much worse if the guy really was trouble.

FINALLY, PLEASE REMEMBER THESE AS WELL ...

I know you are smart enough to know these pointers but there will be some time, when you will go "Hmm... I must remember that." After reading, forward it to someone you care about. Never hurts to be careful in this crazy world we live in.

1. Tip from Tae Kwon Do: The elbow is the strongest point on your body. If you are close enough to use it, do it.

2. Learned this from a tourist guide to New Orleans: If a robber asks for your wallet and/or purse, DO NOT HAND IT TO HIM. Toss it away from you... chances are that he is more interested in your wallet and/or purse than you and he will go for the wallet and/or purse. RUN LIKE MAD IN THE OTHER DIRECTION!

3. If you are ever thrown into the trunk of a car: Kick out the back tail lights and stick your arm out the hole and start waving like crazy. The driver won't see you but everybody else will. This has saved lives.

4. Women have a tendency to get into their cars after shopping, eating, working, etc., and just sit (doing their checkbook, or making a list, etc.) DON'T DO THIS!The predator will be watching you, and this is the perfect opportunity for him to get in on the passenger side, put a gun to your head, and tell you where to go. AS SOON AS YOU LOCK YOUR DOORS...LEAVE!

5. A few notes about getting into your car in a parking lot, or parking garage:

a. Be aware. Look around you. Look into your car, at the passenger side floor, and in the back seat.

b. If you are parked next to a big van, enter your car from the passenger door. Most serial killers attack their victims by pulling them into their vans while the women are attempting to get into their cars.

c. Look at the car parked on the driver's side of your vehicle, and the passenger side. If a male is sitting alone in the seat nearest your car, you may want to walk back into the mall, or work, and get a guard/policeman to walk you back out. IT IS ALWAYS BETTER TO BE SAFE THAN SORRY. (And better paranoid than dead.)

6. ALWAYS take the elevator instead of the stairs. (Stairwells are horrible places to be alone and the perfect crime spot).

7. If the predator has a gun and you are not under his control, ALWAYS RUN! The predator will only hit you (a running target) 4 in 100 times. And even then, it most likely WILL NOT be a vital organ. RUN!

8. As women, we are always trying to be sympathetic: STOP IT! It may get you raped, or killed. Ted Bundy, the serial killer, was a good-looking, well educated man, who ALWAYS played on the sympathies of unsuspecting women. He walked with a cane, or a limp, and often asked "for help" into his vehicle or with his vehicle, which is when he abducted his next victim.

Hi, Still Alive. How’re you?

So I decided to visit my blog. Just because. And of course, since I didn’t delete it, it’s still here. Stagnant. Just observing. Doing noth...
